Abstract: Tibco Software and Cisco Systems have co-designed a network delivery method called the PGM (Pragmatic General Multicast) protocol. PGM allows a server to transmit a multicast message only once. The PGM software will then ensure delivery to all of the intended recipients. This is a much-awaited improvement on the existing multicast protocol, where the server has to transmit the message to each client individually, which increases the load on the network.
Abstract: XML gateways, a new class of networking device, manage message-level security, service-level agreements (SLAs), and performance in service-oriented architectures (SOAs). XML gateways specialize in application-level protocols rendered within the XML or Web services message itself. With the ability to rapidly inspect and process XML messages, they can perform security, transformation, routing, and SLA operations at wire speed in the network.
Abstract: The shift from traditional application design to service-oriented (SOA) principles utilizing XML and Web services promises increased IT agility and reduced technology costs. However, without effective production-caliber infrastructure, the benefits of SOA and Web services will go unrealized. A modular solution that ensures extreme, fine-grained control over XML message handling can deliver the effective performance and policy compliance for every message.

Abstract: IT hasn't properly supported CRM because it hasn't understood either its importance or its requirements. The advent of CRM exacerbated a serious, pre-existing condition, rather than CRM creating the condition. Bottom line-gathering business requirements for technology support should no longer be IT's problem. It's up to business to gather and communicate business requirements for technology support. And business-siders don’t need to understand technology to accomplish this, either, because this is 2003, not 1993.
Abstract: SAP has developed some crucial themes as it moves forward with their PLM vision and solution strategy. Product development lifecycles are shrinking, and managing the innovation process is becoming a broader requirement of manufacturers and retailers alike.
